Control Masks
In a previous project, we needed to provide evidence for the spacial specificity of the response captured in a (Claustrum) mask.
To achieve this, we defined control masks by dilating and shifting the original mask, to cover brain areas surrounding the relevant structure.
The corresponding script can be found here: /shared/ClaustrumLabels/control/create_shifted_and_dilated_masks.ipynb
After specifying location and name of a given mask, this notebook creates (per Hemisphere!):
6 shifted control masks: the original mask is shifted by one voxel in one of (currently) six directions. This process is repeated until the shifted mask isn´t overlapping with the original mask anymore
1 mask combining the 6 shifted control regions
1 dilated mask: the original mask is dilated by a given number of voxels. By subsequently subtracting the original mask, this dilated control contains only voxels surrounding the original structure
Finally, all newly computed masks are stored.
